a process of partnerships
When a community decides they are interested in obtaining a LifeBox Container for their community, we initially set up a Critical Needs Assessment team to go visit the community. This allows professionals (such as engineers, architects, educators, etc.) and the community members to collaborate on the greatest needs of the community. It is at this point that the community decides what module(s) they would like to bring to their community. In our fundraising efforts to purchase the construction documents for all of the modules, it would become possible to then sell these documents to a company or leader in the community to be the sole distributor. The construction, training, and resources are then all being circulated in country and the native people are dependent only on one another. If, for any reason, it is not feasible to sell the construction documents to a company in country, ACI will assist the community in getting the proper training and resources. ACI will provide this support until the community is at a place of self sufficiency. It is never our goal to create dependency within a community. We believe in the ability and strength of every human being. The LifeBox Container will be able to tap into that, providing an outlet for every member of the community to get engaged and take ownership of a project, module, concept, etc.
If you are interested in being a collaborative partner in the distribution of LifeBox Containers, or if your community would benefit from a partnership with ACI, please contact us.

empowering the communities
ACI is built upon the principles of empowerment and self-sustainability. The LifeBox Container concept is the cornerstone of what ACI is because it embodies those principles. We have seen in history, well intended or not, how groups have come in to "save" these under developed communities. In the name of their god, country, or charity, they impose their own beliefs, culture, education, and life systems on these communities. We do not believe these communities are broken and need saving. Instead, we see a lack of options and resources. The LifeBox Container simply opens a door for these communities to build upon the skills they have. Deciding together what their greatest needs are, choosing the modules that will best benefit their people, and having all or a stake in the value of the container, these communities will start to feel empowered once again. Each module is designed to equip these people to care for themselves. Job training will be included, education, medical care, etc. The teachers, construction workers, and doctors will be local community members. They will be able to embrace their own cultural norms on their educational model. Community leaders will be able to create a committee to oversee the community center and help direct the community at the end of every year. ACI exists to deliver the concept, provide initial support as the community gets started, and then step back and watch lives change. Read about the Maasai project and the incredible update we received from one of our partners there.
We believe in the ability of every person. We believe an individual's desire is to be self-sufficient, not dependent. We believe the LifeBox Container will create a system of self-sustainability so that these communities can live a life excitement and knowledge and hope.
Consider how you can get involved.
